Associate - Trade & National Security
An AM 100 law firm with a reputation for excellence in technology and life sciences is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Trade & National Security practice in Washington, D.C. Our team advises innovative companies—ranging from corporate strategic investors and investment funds to advanced manufacturers and emerging technology developers—on export control, sanctions, foreign direct investment reviews, and trade policy matters.
About the Role: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of directly relevant experience in trade and economic sanctions and U.S. export controls, including EAR and ITAR, OFAC, and related national security issues. Candidates should possess:
- Experience in compliance counseling, product classifications, license applications, rulemaking advocacy, internal investigations, government enforcement proceedings, and CFIUS/FOCI filings
- Admission or ability to be admitted to the D.C. bar
- Superior academic credentials and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- A background in, or affinity for, technology and/or life sciences sectors is preferred
- Strong skills in leadership, project management, and client relationship management, coupled with intellectual curiosity
Compensation and Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $310,000 - $390,000. The actual base salary will depend on factors such as qualifications, years of relevant experience, education, certifications, and location.
